Brothers

Leading up to the birth, I’m not sure who was growing more impatient–Sam’s big brothers or us. It seemed like with every conversation they slipped in a “when’s that baby coming?”

The evening before his birth they were very concerned that they’d be in school when Sam was born. Of course, Julie and I expected that he wouldn’t arrive until the evening, so I assured the boys that they wouldn’t be missing anything while in school. I know, I should’ve known better than to make a promise I had no control over keeping.

As soon as the boys were picked up from school and told of Sam’s arrival, they couldn’t wait to meet him. They were two of the proudest looking older brothers I’ve seen, and they just marveled at tiny Sam. Personally, I can’t wait to see how their lives play out together–the things Jacob and Caleb will teach Sam, and the lessons Sam will help the boys learn.
